Mt. Fuji has inspired awe and wonder for centuries, worshipped by many and feared by some. I was drawn to the upturned boats drying in the sun, and their contrasting shapes to the rugged peak.

En-route to the Cerro Castillo ridge camp in Chilean Patagonia, the late afternoon light give a silver reflection to the snaking river in the valley below and for a few brief moment the dance of the clouds lent a wonderful effect to the valley below. As the trip progressed, the clouds gathered further and the notorious wind raised so much dust into the sky that on returning the following day the view was all but obscured.

The rugged conditions at the southern most tip of South America, indeed, the world's most southerly landmass creates a wild and dramatic landscape. The clouds had gathered over the northern shores of the Beagle channel in the mid afternoon and Gable Island, shown here, caught the light of the dropping sun. Surrounded by emperor penguins and albatross this ancient landscape felt untouched, remote, and barren.

Watching the starlight slowly give way to pre-dawn blues of first light, and hearing the fishermen prepare their boats I followed them down to the shores of Lake Motosu. The swirling mists give the enitre scene an opportunity to capture the glow of the sun as it seeped in from the East. The quiet and peace interrupted only by the put-put-put of this fisherman's boat engine heading out.

This iconic tree is found in much of the periphery of the Kalahari desert. As we skidded down the dirt track in the 4×4 this singular specimen presented itself in perfect silhouette. Running to align the composition in the arid scrub I cut and scratched myself head to foot and threw myself down to get the shot. Twenty seconds later and the sun dipped down and the moment passed. I was left bleeding but happy.

Storm clouds rolling in from the Pacific dwarf this yacht as it makes it way out of sheltered waters. These clouds were the beginning of 48 hours of gales and rain. Happy to be ashore.

Namibia has some of the largest dunes in the world. Constantly shifting and sculpted by winds I am always drawn by their seemingly crafted nature and the impossibility of perspective. Is this 2m or 200m high? Only the dwarfed trees at the base tells us this is a centuries old dune of millions of tonnes.

Having noticed this elegant stand of trees whilst passing through the Remarkables mountain range on New Zealand's South Island I stopped to shoot. As I watched, a curtain of a heavy storm approached, without a hint of wind, dropping vertical rods of silver and providing the etherial aspect of the final image. (Seconds later I was soaking wet)
